Christmas 2008 - continued

Hey guys, so heres the time for money collection. I know you hate it, we all hate it. But to make things fast and simple. You can it transfer to me, would much appreciate that then holding on till the actual day itself. I'll need to collect 20bucks from everyone thats coming for dinner.

I hope we can welcome everyone with a doorgift. Drinks will be served as earlybirds mingle among themselves, dinner shall start around 7.45pm. Get ready to be greeted by a wide spread of 'liao' from bah-ee to 红白, catered for all individuals. We will most probably need to take turns for dinner but still, dont come too late.

Following that we will play some games, drink some poison, pile whoever. And not to forget like last year, our gift exchange session!

See ou there!!

You've got to run!!!

I know results are out for the SIM folks. Congrats to those who did well and work harder for those that didn't. Although I do not have the chance to talk to everyone, I heard some were pretty down after knowing their results. Well I won't be consoling those who did not do so well but I have got something to share.

This is one of the quotes which I find it very meaningful.

“Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.
It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.
Every morning a lion wakes up.
It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or gazelle.
When the sun comes up, you better start running.”
~~an African proverb from the book “The World is Flat”~~

Have you been running hard enough?

I know that for many, taking their current courses in SIM wasn't what they really want. There's no interest and no understanding of the industry. Paper chasing is an option with no choice. But now since you are already inside it, then you have to run, whether you are a gazelle or a lion.

Look around, see what the brightest mind around you are doing. Have a clear goal of what you want to do in the future. It can be living on paycheck to paycheck the next 30-40 years on a job you absolutely hate or do something you are interested in, either profit or non-profit, you decide.

Stop living in your comfort zone. Get out and see more things, work hard and strive for the best. Run hard.

Kallang Roar The Movie

Battling the onslaught of a life threatening stage of diabetics, an entire board of
unapproving officials ready to oust him, a record of 12 years of Malaysian
football supremacy, Uncle Choo defiantly returns to the Singapore football
scene in 1977 for one last shot at restoring Nationalistic pride.

Uncle Choo was one unorthodox gem of a coach, regimental, courageous,
determine and very imposing. He was bold, quietly confident; always
believing that he and his nurtured team can accomplish milestone though with
limited resources in every department. His undying love for the game and his
role as a coach whom few would ever understand.

Armed with legendary players like Quah Kim Song, Rajagopal, Samad, Mat
Noh, Dollah Kassim, uncle sets out on an impossible journey to remind his
fellow countrymen of what it meant to be Singaporean.

This is a tale about sheer grit, unbreakable will and his deep passion,
unyielding struggle with society and oneself, to finally achieve glory for one’s
nation thru football and coined one legacy unwittingly, known to all as “The
Kallang Roar” which is of nothing to himself at the end of it.

Movie Title : Kallang Roar The Movie
Venue : SHAW Century Square

KY's comments....

hello guys,
first of all i would like to say we improved from the previous disaster. Some things i wanna point out.

1) selfless - sacrifices are made. some of us played out of positions so others can thrive. Special thanks to your selfless act, guys!
2) no direction - as discussed at dinner, we didnt really have a strategy towards the game. Simply when we have the ball at our feet, we do not know wat to do.
3) Our strikers do not have enough services - most of the thru-balls we made are either offside or too far away from the strikers. i apologise for that also, part of my fault. Wat i suggest is we can try to move more to the flanks to thread the pass easier.

4) when we sub another player in, remember to tell him which position he is taking over, so he wont be blur. haha! ( not referring to anybody )
5) i think the referee cheat our money. 2nd half where got so short. cb! by the time lao er roars us to push forward, the match end liao. wtf.

there are some things we shd discuss beforehand and during the game, which are very important, i feel. Like penalty-kick takers, throw-in takers, freekick takers, left or right ,etc. So the moment we get a throw-in, the other players can move into position asap.
And during the game we can decide from where we can penetrate the defence, depending on where we think is their weaker side.
Once this is sorted out, i think we will become more stable, at least.

Another thing to note is that the last man who oversees the game from the back- our captain - its good you can give more orders to our defence and midfield also, because i also quite seh liao cannot notice some places also. if possible we can form partnerships like left mid with leftback, or the centre midfielders as a group - we communicate more in the sense that we let our partners know our intentions so he can do the necessary cover-up.
e.g. i know peow is doing fine in the attacking part so i drop back to cover defence.
e.g. (right side) when ivan attacks with the ball, someone is there to cover up the whole.

In my opinion our last man shd never be marking anyone when the opp. strikers are lurking ard becos he must be there to see everything and shout instructions. In any point of the time, a midfielder can drop back to cover defensive duties so the last man can be free.

overall, i must praise you guys, we did well!. Just a little more of adjustment we will be raring to go!
kudos for the effort made - the organiser and the rest who sweat their asses away in the game.
And angeline who took care of my poor little BEBE! =)

any other things to add, guys?

The aftermath FFU 0 - 2 Anwar FC

Kk. First things first, I think those without shin guard should go and purchase one if we're really keen on play field soccer.
Next, I think the performance today was much better then the previous game, at least we played as a team and lost as one. Which I feel is much more to being unfortunate rather then losing on the technical side. High ball is always a problem with us, period.
I decided to reshuffle the second half defence as I feel the midfield is not really passing much crucial ball, hence I went up to join the midfield. My bad on this part as the defence was totally in shambles. Think for future game I'll just stick to being in the heart of the defence.
And I think Kah Yong should call the shots in midfield, i.e. midfielders will have to listen to him in the field, he's the BOSS in midfield.
Anyway it's just a game, hope all had fun! Any more pointers to add please feel free to post them up. Cheers!

Your beloved Captain

On This Day : June 8

Gerard Houllier announced the capture of France World Cup winner Bernard Diomede on this day back in 2000.

The left winger made his Reds debut in the 1-0 UEFA Cup win over Rapid Bucharest but his first team opportunities were to prove limited because of injury problems and difficulty adjusting to the pace of the English game.

Diomede came close to scoring what would have been a goal to remember at Anfield against Sunderland, but he saw his spectacular overhead scissor kick superbly pushed onto the post by Thomas Sorensen. If that had gone in who knows how Diomede's Anfield future would have mapped out?

Donadoni opens door for Del Piero recall

ROME, April 29 (Reuters) - Italy coach Roberto Donadoni has hinted he may recall in-form Juventus captain Alessandro Del Piero for Euro 2008.

The 33-year-old World Cup winner has not played for his country since giving a poor performance in a goalless Euro 2008 qualifier against France in September.

But calls to bring him back have been mounting as the forward has scored 18 Serie A goals to help third-placed Juventus secure a Champions League qualification slot on their return to the top-flight after relegation over the 2006 match-fixing scandal.

Donadoni suggested Del Piero could be in line for a recall after a journalist promised not to raise the issue in an interview published in Tuesday's edition of La Repubblica.

'Thank you because I could easily say, six months ago I didn't know, but today, yes, (I'd take him) at once, the facts speak for themselves,' he replied. 'But I'll only talk about selections on the pre-established date.'

Riise promises to bounce back after own goal

OSLO, April 24 (Reuters) - Liverpool defender John Arne Riise believes he will come back stronger after a scoring a shock injury-time own goal in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

I've learned that it's the way you hit back that matters,' Riise told Thursday's Norwegian daily Verdens Gang. 'Mentally, I am the best.

I've got my head back in place after a heavy night. I'm going to learn from this.'

Substitute Riise headed a Salomon Kalou cross into his own goal deep into stoppage time at Anfield to give Chelsea a vital away goal.

'I decided to stoop and head the ball in the direction it came from,' said the Liverpool defender. 'But it was a swerving cross, the ball was wet, and it slid right off my forehead. It was a shock to see it lying in the goal.'

Riise added that he was hopeful of staying at Liverpool beyond next year when his contract expires with the Merseyside club.

'I hope and still believe in a new contract with Liverpool,' he said. 'But I cannot say definitely that I have a future here when I only have one year left of my deal and haven't heard anything from the club yet.'

Poh Ready To Forgive Siang

Qiao Hui: Ban Siang for life

By gnaiseew
Last Updated: 1:45am GMT 24/02/2008

Poh's girlfriend Qiao Hui made an astonishing call for FFU defender Siang to be banned for life after his horror tackle bruised the leg of SIM's Poh inside the Cage game at Kallang's The Cage.

Siang, 23, who was not discipline by any officials, lost only a few strands of 'ka mor'. But Qiao Hui said: "That is a joke. The tackle was horrendous and I don't think that Siang should play again. When these tackles happen, they always say that he is not that sort of player. But you only have to kill someone once and you have a dead person.

"I knew something like this would happen one day. It goes with the idea that to beat Poh, you have to kick Poh. So I knew this would happen. The injury looks very, very bad but we don't know the extent of it at the moment.

"If you look at the tackle again, you can see that the intent is not to get the ball but to get the man. He is saying, 'Let's go for the shins and worry about the ball later'."

FFU were so upset at the allegations that they issued a statement on behalf of the club and the 6ft 4in Siang, regretting the incident and claiming that replays showed there was no malicious intent.

Thanks for the effort of coordinating a kick about on Sunday, even though it did not go as well as it was planned.
Thanks for the many smses, calls, you had to take within ur stride.
Your kind gesture of only one motive, to help gather closest friends to have fun and to have each other's pressence, is appreciated by me.
I know its difficult, I know its frustrating, I know you sometimes feel like screaming aloud, killing someone when nobody wanna cooperate.
A simple yes, a simple no.
We simply ask too much, say too much irrelevant.
Comon, think about it, you're a culprit, you're a victim, you're guilty.
So if you receive a call, a sms about something in future,
Pls show some love to the organisers.
Pls make their lifes' the easiest as possible.
Pls give your fullest support.
Pls try to brighten their day.
For without them, You and I will be sitting our ass on the couch and be potatoes for the rest of our lives.

Hi people, the budget has been set at $20 for uncle danny and aunty elaine's wedding anniversary gift. Planning to buy a couple tee, preferrably a pair of Nike Golf Polo Tee. The budget is advisable at $20, which includes the buffet dinner on the 26th, additional drink+chips for those stayin over, soccer at NSRCC and BBQ dinner on the 27th. if you're not utilising the mentioned programs, you can opt to pay an amount you're comfortable with. Pls note, paying is strictly voluntarily and any amount will be undisclosed.
I'm be in charge of collecting the gift budget.
